Roulette Casino

A roulette casino is a place where you can play roulette for real money. Our website provides a detailed guide to the roulette casino game, including articles about how to play, how to win at, and how to bet on roulette. This page covers how to find a roulette casino online and roulette casino strategy.

The Roulette Casino Game

The roulette casino game is one of the oldest and most popular casino games still in existence. Blaise Pascal invented a rudimentary roulette wheel in the 17th century while trying to create a perpetual motion machine. The French turned roulette into the popular casino game that we’re familiar with today in the 18th century.

The game is played at a table with a specific layout on which roulette players can place bets. The table also features a spinning wheel that’s set into a bowl. The roulette wheel has a number of numbered pockets of various colors. The roulette dealer spins a ball around the edge of the bowl while simultaneously spinning the wheel. The pocket that the ball falls into determines who wins which bets.

Roulette is popular as a leisurely game that doesn’t require a lot of thinking. Some players use various betting systems, but the game itself is not a strategic game. No amount of betting strategies changes the house edge in a roulette game, because every spin of the wheel is a distinct event.
How to Find a Roulette Casino Online
Finding a roulette casino online isn’t hard to do. Most Internet casinos offer both European and American style roulette games. (The European style roulette game offers better odds to the player, because it only has a single zero on the wheel, as opposed to the two zeros on the American roulette wheel.) Players needn’t fear that an online casino roulette game is rigged, either. It doesn’t have to be rigged, because the game itself provides the casino with a mathematical advantage that can’t be overcome in the long run. The reason for this is that all roulette bets pay out at odds slightly less than the odds of winning the bet.

For example, an even-money bet, like a bet on red, pays out at even odds, or 1 to 1. But the odds of actually winning that bet aren’t even; they’re slightly less than even, because there are only 17 ways to win, and 19 ways to lose.

Of more concern to the online roulette player is the reliability of the casino when it comes to paying out winnings. And roulette players do win some of the time in the short run, or the casinos wouldn’t have any customers, and they’d go out of business. The best way to find a roulette casino online that pays out with no difficulty is to read reviews on trusted online gambling portals like this one. Another strategy for choosing an online casino is to make a short list of options, then search through some online forums to see what other Internet players have said about the casinos on your list. Keep in mind that playing roulette online for real money is illegal in some jurisdictions, too.

Roulette Casino Strategy

The best roulette casino strategy is to try to enjoy oneself as much as one can while playing. You’ll find plenty of other “strategies” that will supposedly help you win, but they’re all bunk. Roulette has an unassailable mathematical edge that can’t be beaten by any kind of betting strategy.

The most common roulette casino strategy is the Martingale System. This is what’s known as a progressive betting strategy, because the player raises the betting amounts based on how much was lost on the previous bet. The Martingale System uses the even money bets on the roulette table, usually the colors, red or black, but sometimes whether or not the ball lands on an even or odd number.

In the Martingale System, if a player loses a bet, the player is supposed to double that amount on the next bet. If the subsequent bet is won, the player is up by the amount of the original bet. On the other hand, if the subsequent bet is lost, the player is supposed to double the bet again.

The problem with this strategy is that it assumes three things. The first is that the wheel has some kind of memory, and that if a certain color has come up several times in a row, then that color is less likely to come up on the next spin. That’s a myth though. A spin of a roulette wheel is an independent event, and the likelihood of it coming up on red or black is the same on every single spin.

Another assumption made by the Martingale System is that the player has an unlimited bankroll. When someone is doubling a bet after every loss, it doesn’t take long for the betting amount to become very large. Supposing that a bet of $1 were allowed, the progression would look like this:

On the first spin, $1 is wagered. Then on the second spin, $2 is wagered. On the third spin, $4 is wagered. And so on, until on the tenth spin (assuming a loss after every spin), [Soft Break]$512 is wagered.

Assuming a loss on each of those spins, a roulette player following the Martingale System will occasionally lose $1023 over ten spins. On the eleventh spin, the player has to make a wager of $1024…in order to end the session with a net win of…a dollar. And on that eleventh spin, what is the player’s chance of winning that dollar? It’s the same as on all of the other spins—47.36%.

The third assumption that the Martingale System makes is that the casino has no upper betting limit. Many online casinos have a maximum roulette bet of $500. Once a player bumps into that top limit, she can no longer continue to double her bets. The betting limits won’t allow it.

What does the Martingale System do for the player? It guarantees that the net win after each progression is never more than one unit, but it also guarantees that the net loss on some gambling sessions is very large.

Play roulette if you enjoy it, but make sure that you’re not gambling money that you need for something other than entertainment. Take full advantage of the setting and socialize with the other players. Enjoy the comp drinks. Roulette is meant as entertainment, and to treat it as a way to generate income is folly.
